Even though it is being implemented by this Labour government,
I share the concerns of the Fire Brigades Union on the regionalisation of the Fire and Rescue Services. The unions assure
us that if regionalisation goes ahead as planned, lives will almost certainly be lost needlessly. They also believe that not
only will there be no financial benefits, but that therre could even be implications.
Over the past few years, the Tory administration has failed to get to grips with the huge
spend on "taxis to school". It is a serious problem across the county and the problem is getting worse instead of better.
As in other parts of the County, traffic congestion continues to get worse. With more and
more traffic coming on to the roads of Lincolnshire each year, we are fast arriving at a point of non-sustainability, unless
someone gets to grips with the situation.
Like most of the people I represent, I also have serious concerns about the lack of visible
policing on the streets. People complain endlessly that they "never see a policeman, unless he's in a car". It may not be
exactly true, but it is how the situation is perceived by the public at large.
With the current restructuring of Education and Social services within the County Council,
I hope that the problem of a serious shortage of Occupational Therapists can be addressed once and for all. Something is clearly
wrong when the most vulnerable members of our community have to wait for over a year to see a therapist.
If you identify any problems within your community that you feel should
be addressed, please let me know.
